A large early 19th century Georgian elm rush seated arm chair dating from around 1810.
Traditional Lancashire/Macclesfield style ladder-back armchair that would look great in a country/farmhouse styled setting.
The chair has a yoke shaped top rail to the ladder back and shaped arms. These are lightly faded with age which gives a lovely tone and natural patina. The arms are supported at the front by turned columns that run down into legs and terminate with pad feet.
The front legs are joined with a turned stretcher and pairs of stretchers join the other legs.
Original rush seat is in excellent condition.
The chair is in very good condition for its age with only a few light marks and a beautiful patina. No wobbles or loose joints.
It measures (at widest points):
Height - 45 inches
Width - 23.5 inches
Overall depth - 24 inches.
