Rare original 1969 UK pressing of the superb Led Zeppelin II album by Led Zeppelin
This was pressed in 1969 at the same time as the 2nd press by Polydor for Atlantic. A contact for a small number of records was given to PYE records in the UK to keep up with the demand. This version has a pronounced pressing ring around the centre and has hand etched matrix numbers ending in A/B.
Identical labels to the main UK second pressing. “Wreck” error has been corrected to “Maid” but still has “The Lemon Song” listed on labels and “Thankyou” as all one word. Error with etchings (number 9 is etched out and replaced with number 8 on B-side). Incorrectly has “Led Zeppelin 2” on the spine instead of Led Zeppelin II
Matrix numbers:
Side 1: 588 - 198 - A KT K (hand etched)
Side 2: 588 - 198 - B KT O (hand etched)
Vinyl Condition:
The record is visually in VG+ condition with light scuffs and sleeve removal marks. No feelable marks. It is fully tested and plays with lovely loud and clear audio throughout. A few very minor low level crackles in a couple of the spaces between tracks only. No pops, clicks, sticks or jumps and a great sounding copy. Play grade is EX to EX+
Sleeve condition:
Lighter brown matte gatefold sleeve. Error on spine (Led Zeppelin 2). Sleeve has light general storage wear/edge wear but no major issues. VG to VG+ (see photos). Some ring wear showing on the rear (as with most early copies).
Original polydor “plastic bags can be….” Inner is VG+
Overall this is a great sounding very early and rare copy of this classic album.
