This rare vintage black and white Dansette dates from 1965 and is in great working order. It’s a good looking piece too!!!
Whilst certainly not high fidelity by any standards, this vintage mono single valve radiogram is certainly lots of fun, and gives an authentic vintage sound. At also looks great too, particularly sitting on the original set of 4 screw in legs.
The record player is a BSR autochanger. This allows you to stack up to 6 singles to be played automatically, one after the other. The player has 4 speed settings and you can play 7” or 12” singles automatically, 12” LPs and also shellac gramophone records (78rpm). The cartridge has a flip over LP/78 needle fitted.
The radio has 3 settings (2 for MW and 1 for LW) this is also working well. It’s an unusual model in that it has a transistor radio that is amplified by the single valve amplifier.
It has been serviced by myself, including:
Checking electronic components for correct values and safety, cleaning and ensuring good working condition of all switches and potentiometers, full strip and re-lubrication of the deck mechanism, replacement of cartridge and stylus with a brand new old stock stereo medium output BSR C1 stereo cartridge. I have also wired the tag strip inside the player to ensure that both sides of the stereo signal are played through the players single speaker. I have changed the fuse to the correct 3amp fuse in the plug.
Cosmetically it is in very good original condition. I have given it a good clean but it does have a little age related discolouration to the outer rexine. Certainly nothing major as shown in the photos. The only other slight issue is the metallic cap on the tuning dial has fallen off. I will try find a replacement in my unit although these can also be bought cheaply online (they just glue on)
